What makes it special? The combination of unusual color and limited availability makes Paraíba particularly prized. Fine vivid specimens are scarce, and larger gems of comparable quality are harder to find.
Color comes first. Hue, saturation and brightness strongly influence its appeal. Carat weight alone does not determine quality; clarity, inclusions and the way the cut brings out the color also matter.
Origin and treatment. Paraíba is a variety name, not an origin guarantee. Origin requires gemological investigation. Heat treatment is used in this material and may not always be detectable; information about an individual stone should come from its own documentation.
Gentle care. Tourmaline has a Mohs hardness of 7–7.5 but can be damaged by knocks, high heat and sudden temperature changes. Clean with lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush; avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaners.
