A closer look

Crafted in Detail

Materials, stones and craftsmanship explained clearly by the people who create the piece.

Stone

Natural Brown Diamond

Brown color in many natural diamonds is linked to plastic deformation of the crystal lattice. During this process, defects including clusters of vacancies—missing carbon atoms—can absorb visible light and create brown coloration. Not every brown diamond has exactly the same color mechanism, but deformation is the leading cause.

Stone

Natural Yellow Diamond

Natural yellow diamonds owe their color mainly to nitrogen atoms incorporated into the diamond crystal during growth. These nitrogen-related defects selectively absorb blue light, allowing yellow tones to become visible. The strength of the color can range from faint yellow through Fancy grades to vivid, saturated yellow.
Learn more

Natural yellow diamonds are part of the natural fancy-color diamond family. Their yellow color is most commonly associated with nitrogen in the crystal structure, which absorbs portions of blue light and allows yellow to dominate the visible appearance.

Color is evaluated separately from the D–Z scale used for colorless and near-colorless diamonds once the stone enters the Fancy Color grading range. Hue, tone, saturation, distribution of color, cut and lighting all influence appearance.

As with every natural diamond, the specific grading report and characteristics of the individual stone remain the authoritative source for that diamond.

Metal

White Gold

White gold is a gold alloy made lighter in color by combining gold with white-colored metals. Many pieces are rhodium plated for a brighter finish; that surface layer can wear over time and may need professional renewal.
Learn more

White gold is a family of gold alloys rather than a single formula. Pure gold is mixed with white-colored metals to produce a paler color and improve working properties. Many pieces are rhodium plated to create a brighter, harder surface.

Karatage describes gold purity. Fourteen-karat gold contains about 58.3% gold and is commonly marked 585; the remaining alloy varies by formulation. A product’s exact alloy and surface treatment should be verified separately when relevant.

Setting

Cluster Setting

A cluster setting groups several stones closely together so they read as one larger visual composition. It can create strong presence and sparkle while allowing different stone sizes, colors or shapes to work together.

Setting

Side Stones

A side-stone design places additional stones beside the center stone to add brilliance, color or visual balance while keeping the center stone as the main focal point.

Cut & shape

Cushion Cut

The cushion cut has a square or rectangular outline softened by rounded corners and curved sides. Its faceting can vary, but the shape is known for combining a soft silhouette with strong brilliance.
